Gun Petition, Liberals taking away our guns ....

I hear ya when it comes to what politicians are ! So we agree on something ? LoL ! I was going to say "don't give up voting" it may seem we can only vote for the lessor of 3 evils but nowadays such is not the case. Unfortunately the press only cover the big 3 and toss in the Green Party for some reason. There are many more out there to look at. I've taken a shine to the None of the above Party. All independents but formed as a party ?
Aaaaaaaaaah for the good old days, If the hetman of the village didn't do what the people wanted he would be tied to two horses and one went North and the other South. Problem solved. Da !

One last comment to those who see that I have a disdain for the 5.56 NATO (yes...FMJ like the movie) and the .223 Remington and the AR 15 they were built for. All you guys can look up on wiki the Armalite company that created the AR and the NATO round, now I will re-iterate why it has no place in our hunting heritage.

While doing a training session down in GA at a US Army contractor site not far from Ft Benning quite a few years ago, I asked whats the big deal with the 5.56 NATO and why the M16 is chambered in them (and why the AR we were using down there for training) uses them. It's a small caliber I thought, so why?

The ex-Ranger who was lead the group told me the cartridge was designed as the the perfect small arms calibre for the war theater. Small calibre with high velocity and a full metal jacket was made to go right through an enemy's body unless it hit some bone, and if it hit just a rib, would shatter right through and keep going. This takes the enemy down, doesn't kill him, but causes two more enemy combatants to then have to rescue him, drag him off and cause serious field implications for manpower, materials, medic aid, evac etc, thus taking more than 5 men out of combat for every one shot and wounded. Or...the rescuers get plinked as well causing even more damage. The round causes enough damage that it probably will kill the guy anyway a few days later, but all the energy going in to saving him is what is the major point.

Given that one of the main criteria for the caliber was that it MUST penetrate a US Army steel helmet in 500 yards (amongst some other impressive stats), it is clear that this caliber and the military firearm it was designed for should be left to the military. It is not, and never will be a hunting rifle or a hunting round. Yes, a hand grenade will catch fish, but why? Now, why in Canada do people buy their AR's chambered in .223 or 5.56? Cheap surplus rounds. The market is full of them and it feels cool shooting it. Yes they are fun to shoot, yes the AR makes you feel like Rambo and the rounds come in cool looking big cases (some are military style green cans with 500 per case for $249)

Down in the US during training, did I get off handling the AR? Hells yes. It was exhilarating. On the property there were no clip limits, we trained on the run firing multiple shots at targets, some moving, some not. That weapon is pure military grade boys. In the hands of someone who knows who to wield it...wow.
Yes, a band of coyotes can get obliterated if you can get good at it but damn guys, all our heart-felt pride in our hunting heritage is being bought and erased by the gun manufactures, the NRA and those that stand to profit.

Anyway, its always down to one man, one vote. Guess you know where mine lies.

While I understand for example why the NDP are pushing for proportional representation, and election reform, I don't agree with their idea of how to go about it. Because if you go with strictly proportional representation as I understand how it has been presented (and I'm not sure I understood this correctly because well, it wasn't really explained clearly), it may not work as they think it will because the reality is, per the 2016 census, which is where I got these numbers, the population of the entire country is 35,151,728.

IF you combine the population of all 4 western provinces and the 3 territories, (11,205,551) it still doesn't equal the population of Ontario. Likewise, you could combine the population of Quebec and the 4 Maritime provinces, (10,497,683) and that combined population also would not equal that of Ontario which is per that 2016 census, 13,448, 494, so the people of Ontario might and almost certainly would have an issue with that if as the province with the highest population, that representation is lesser than the rest of the country per individual or combined populations may be given and as the GTA is where the most seats are in this province (if not the country) whoever wins the GTA in any election, be it provincial or federal, is almost certain to win that election IF they can get enough seats outside the GTA to form a government, be that government a minority like we have now, or a majority like we had after the 2015 election.

BUT when you combine the population of the other 9 provinces and the 3 territories together, (21,703,234) obviously that combined population would far exceed that of Ontario but it still wouldn't double that of Ontario.

Having lived in the NWT and experienced a "consensus government" that might be one way to bring about some kind of electoral and governmental reforms so that all are better represented in government in this country, but that means getting rid of the party system we have now and we all know that will be an exercise in stupidity at best.

As described on the GNWT website, it is explained pretty well. It says,

"What is Consensus Government?
The Northwest Territories is one of only two jurisdictions in Canada with a consensus system of government instead of one based on party politics. In our system, all Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) are elected as independents. Shortly after the election, all Members meet as a Caucus to set priorities for that Assembly. The Caucus remains active throughout their term as the forum where all Members meet as equals.
Members who are not in Cabinet are referred to as Regular Members. They become the “unofficial opposition.” They are responsible, through questioning in the House and the work of standing committees, for holding the government accountable and responsive to the people of the Northwest Territories.
Compared to the party system, there is much more communication between Regular Members and Cabinet. All legislation, major policies, and proposed budgets pass through the Regular Members’ standing committees before coming to the House. This gives Members a chance to make changes and put their “fingerprints” on initiatives before they’re made public, unlike in other systems. This influence comes at a price for Regular Members: they often get advance notice of announcements and issues before the public does, but can’t tell their constituents.
The 11 Regular Members also hold the balance of power, as only seven Cabinet Ministers are elected. A Cabinet that ignores the direction favored by the majority soon runs into trouble. Even so, consensus government does not mean that unanimous agreement is necessary for decisions to be made, motions passed, and legislation enacted. A simple majority carries the vote.
Election of the Speaker, Premier, and Ministers
Once elected, Members hold a territorial leadership meeting at the Legislative Assembly in Yellowknife. The first order of business is the election of the Speaker by secret ballot. This reflects the importance of the Speaker, who presides over the Assembly as a whole and enforces the rules.
The next task is electing the Premier. Members have many discussions behind the scenes as candidates measure their support leading up to the election, which has been held in public since the 12th Assembly. Candidates are nominated and given 20 minutes to present their platforms. Then the floor is opened for a limited number of questions from each Member, and a secret ballot vote is held. Sometimes it takes several ballots before any candidate receives more than 50% of the votes.
The election of six more Cabinet ministers comes next. Again candidates are nominated and outline their platforms in public before a secret ballot vote takes place. After meeting with their team of ministers, the Premier assigns them to head up one or more departments.
Some Members choose not to accept nominations to Cabinet because they prefer to be free to ask tough questions of ministers in the House and before standing committees. They feel they can better represent their constituents as Regular Members.
It rarely happens, but the Premier and/or Cabinet ministers can be removed by the passing of a motion of non-confidence in the House. Motions of censure are a less extreme measure that can put the Premier or minister under considerable public pressure."

Something like that might work nation wide, but I know it's never going to happen. Not enough people would ever agree with making that kind of a change to provincial or federal politics. Too many people like the party system we have now because that's what we've always had.

The Liberal government in Ottawa hell-bent on banning hunting and sport rifles, (semi-automatic rifles with CLIPS, not shotguns or handguns. The dictator, Justin Trudeau will be in Parliament on January 27th, 2020 to do this. I do not see it on the news yet perhaps it won't be, but obviously there was a petition made, probably through the Conservatives. People please share and sign the petition as soon as possible as this is crucial. Thank you!

There is a saying where I come from United we stand , divided we fall . That is what Trudeau is trying to do is divide all of us and make everyone argue and disagree with each other to the point of getting angry . That is How Hitler got his WW11 going by dividing his country and conquering his people with propaganda , just like Trudeau is doing today . We live in a free Country so Lets keep dictatorship , communism, and Socialism at bay here period.
