Pike are best out of cold water but "Hammerhandles" can get munched into the best fishburgers. Cronk use to fillet a Pike and you would never find a bone. As for the OP ? I can't afford a charter so it's either high end fish or high end beef but the price is the same.

I actually prefer pike over Walleye, Perch or Pickerel, and you get more meat per catch. It's a great fish to fry or bake and baking is what I'm trying to do more of these days.
I agree Outdoorman. When we used to moose hunt in northwestern Ontario, we would throw the walleye back and keep the 3-4 lb. pike for eating. Out of those cold water rock-bottom lakes they were superb eating. They were significantly fatter and tastier by far than the weed bottom pike out any southern Ontario lake. Man, I sure miss those northern pike fish fries' my late buddy cooked up for us on all those trips over a 25-year span. We used to eat a full fry pan each and sometimes more. 😋

I also love the vintage photo of your buddy.

You guys crack me up. I still eat naphtha for breakfast, the “good old days” haven’t left us! You can buy one brand new at Home Hardware, but they’re $309 now.

A little oil on that leather pump cup and it works great. I have a 3 burner from the 70’s, and a 2 burner and lantern from the 80’s.

You can’t beat the liquid fuel equipment in cold weather, or way up north or if you don’t like those disposable teeny propane tanks. They take a little know how but are reliable as anything, mine are older than me and just need oiling and fuel
