Burwell Eyes and old lures

Limited out early today- but I also wanted to try something different-I remember stories about how well the old time body baits used to work for walleye and pike back in the day so I brought a number up with me and guess what? They still work-my brother in law with a 30incher--anyone remember what this bait was called?

River runt?

I believe that is a Heddon 7500 minnow Red & White which has 3 treble hooks as does yours in the photo. The Heddon river runt looks exactly the same only shorter with just 2 treble hooks. Caught many fish on both but years ago and like me they have been around forever. :)

the lure is a Heddon Vamp--more of a wide back and forth motion--but the walleye seem to like it--I was looking at some of my late grandfathers lures and recall reading how well the old Heddons - Creek Chub Co -and AWS lures worked back in the day so I thought I would try them today--just for something different and you know-they still catch fish 60 years later-- have to admit it was fun using lures that haven't been in the water for over 40 years.

the lure is a Heddon Vamp

Yes vamp is what it's called but it comes in many size variations, the 7500 series is a 4 1/2" vamp which appears to be the size your holding and I believe the 7300 series is 3 1/2" or 4". They also come in other sizes including jointed. Heddon made a whole ton of different vintage wooden lures dating back to the late 1800s. Muskies were famous for destroying them in a hurry. LOL! :)

Great old lures--I know of a fellow in Niagara -does custom lure painting -so I think I may send 5 or 6 Heddon Vamps down to him and run them next year. I still do very well trolling Canadian Wigglers out of Burwell. Sometimes those old lures never lose their magic.

Here are some oldies I have kicking around.
