    Who's ready for ice fishing?

Same here Rjohn, 12 years where I live and have many mature walnuts on the property, have never seen as many walnuts, like 5 times a normal year, was the same with apple trees, so loaded the branches were being pulled down to the ground, good for the deer and turkeys.

    Burwell

Looks like the lake will be very rough today. 6 footers from west/southwest at least. Wind moves to north/northwest by midnight then stays offshore and light tomorrow. Plan on heading out of Burwell also. Not sure how long it will take the northerly winds to knock down the waves from today.

Off Topic Why I like using K100 in my fuel

Very interesting video and product. Here is another video by the same guy about Seafoam which I have used in my gas for a few years. (hope that link goes to the video). A friend who has a landscaping company swears by Seafoam as he used to blow an engine every year or so and since using Seafoam...

    ROC License for VHF

Although indeed you do require a license to use (turn on a VHF radio), I have spoke with the OPP several times about this while on the water with their response being, "yes you do require a license, however, they would much rather see someone on the water with a VHF radio and no license then not...

    Fishing Partner

Well...yes the companionship is nice whether you get a cent in return. That being said...believe me 50-100 bucks is NOT going to make me any money when you look at the costs involved in owning and operating a boat ! Well maybe if I had a 12 foot tinny but that isn't the case. If I didn't have a...

    Fishing Partner

Ok...question as to what might be appropriate in cost sharing when taking someone out fishing. Lets look at approx. 1.5 hr drive, launch fee, possibly bait and of course gas for boat and vehicle for the day. Some of my friends just had a brief discussion about what is appropriate. Last couple of...

    $800 ticket?

Very well said. People need to keep in mind that this "stay at home order" is for the good of all of us. Where the problem arises is when 2-4 people from different households are fishing together in a boat or driving together in the same vehicle and risking either getting or passing along Covid...

Anyone else listening to doug ford?

So exactly how many people would have to die before the Charter of Rights should be tossed aside to protect citizens?? This is no different than having a War Measures Act...this is a war against Covid ! There are times when people's Rights need to be tossed aside for the good of all of us ! This...

    Coleman stove repairs

Not sure what it is that needs fixing with your stove, but I have repaired mine several times over the years. I have ordered parts from Coleman a few years back...would assume you still can. Can also keep an eye on kijiji for anyone selling a used stove..even for parts. They are a pretty simple...

So let me get this straight

I remember the milk "man" delivering glass bottles once a week. Often think that might be the way to solve the milk bag problem. Even the waxed milk containers now have a plastic screw lid..that needs to end. It is true though...everything you buy is either in a hard plastic container or a...

    Off Topic Quite possible

When our group go fishing in Quebec we will quite often take a beer or two out in the boat as a refreshment..it is legal to do so there. I doubt very much the boating incidents of drunk boaters is any higher than in Ontario where it is illegal. It is all about being responsible. No law will end...

    Recent Steelheading

Unfortunately Ontario is a mess as far as protecting and rehabilitating streams. Neighbouring states like MIchigan and Ohio are far more receptive to protection of streams. I just recently have had a horror show with my township, UTCA and eventually the Federal Dept. of Fisheries and Oceans. A...

    Walleye Information

I only fished out of Burwell and twice out off the Lighthouse at Long Point, There is no doubt the fishing out of both was nothing it was in 2019 IMO.

    Off Topic Storage tip

Hey thats a great tip Twister, I always pull my plug all summer and when I get home I crank the boat up as high as I can at the front so water runs to the back and I just use a strip of paper towel into a small lil pail..always amazed how much drains that didn't drain on my drive home with plug out.
