Alph 1 Gen ll stern drive

Well it was about time to change the anodes on the Stern drive. No problem getting any of the bolts out. But I had a surprise when I took the prop off and the thrust washers to open and expose the bottom cavity above the skeg. Much to my surprise the cavity showed no anoed inside and no threaded bolt holes to put new one in. I'm very confused as I went to my other Stern drive as I have twin drives opened it up and there was a old hub annoyed in there. And 2 bolts with the remainder of the hub that sits behind the thrust washer. The bolts came out and the new one went in. Why would the original mercruiser stern drive not have it and the aftermarket stern drive has it

I think there were multiple versions and the anode kits include all. I have kits for my Bravo outdrive that includes anodes that mine doesn't use.

This seams like a crucial area for merc to engineer a sacrificial anode i was quite surprised that the aftermarket looked better engineered ...
