Thames River Walleye

I know that spot!
Yes you do @Dmanwithnoname 👊👊,and I am glad that I found one of your trout floats there, when @Extra Virgin and I happened to be trout fishing there, shortly after you did. Tight lines & maybe small stream trout ON!! for the three of us,once the trout season opens in April,2023. 🎣🐟🐟🐟🤞👍👍👍🙂

Caught this beauty the week before I brought you there.... Shoulda been there last week 🤣
😳 That’s a Beautiful 🤩 trout there @Extra Virgin 👍👍 and 🎉congratulations 🎉 again! I remember you showing me that photo last year. I will be hoisting up some trout this spring, but on the other side of where you are fishing,by the “red” gate!!
lol 😝 🎣🐟🐟 Of course you & @Dmanwithnoname may join me there on that private property. 🎣🐟🐟🐟👊👊 👍🙂

Been fishing that stream for 17ys and never met the owner beyond the "red gate" and the first time you go without me you actually met the other property owner to get full permission on all four corners 🤣

I know eh!! @Extra Virgin lol 😆 a case of Coors Light did most of the talking!! 😗 Just kidding my friend, and here’s hoping that we will get back together for some spring trout fishing there, and I hope to introduce you & perhaps @Dmanwithnoname as well to the private property owner there. 🎣🐟🐟🐟👍🙂

If it makes you feel any better @Dmanwithnoname that river hates me too. I fished it in total for approx 22 years when you combine the years I fished it as a kid before we moved out west, and then the years I was able to stand on the side of the river before I got hurt and could no longer do that. In all those years that river has only allowed me 5 walleye and 1 smallie. The last time it gave me anything was 10 years ago, 1 walleye in the reservoir right by the boat launch at Fanshawe, and a smallie at the back of the reservoir near the safety village.

Now that I'm physically unable to stand there and try, I don't really miss it because I know what I'm missing...........a whole lot of nothin........so I'm ok with living vicariously through @Red Hering and his spring adventures fishing the Thames before the walleye season on the river closes which is coming soon enough.
@Trevor M if it wasn’t for the amount of hiking 🥾 🥾 that I do to get to some of these walleye spot’s that I know,( just ask @Extra Virgin ) on one of the hike’s/fishing spot that I took him to recently, I would love to take you along with me. But I should mention as well, that my last couple of thames river walleye trips have been a 🦨 skunk. I am not complaining or anything, because the fresh air and the hike always tops everything. You are right though about the walleye season closing soon east of the Keil Bridge in Chatham. Thank goodness though that the pike season doesn’t close in Zone 16 till March 31,2023,because I don’t seem to have a problem catching & releasing those, such like @Extra Virgin did,( last photo),the last time, him and I went walleye fishing. But for now I will keep on pursuing the walleye’s,and just maybe, tight lines & walleye’s on,when I go fishing for walleye’s again,on my next fishing trip out soon. 🎣🐟🐟🤞👍🙂

same here
@TMAN it’s not like the walleye’s are there in the thames river yet in great numbers in early 2023. It has also been very slow walleye fishing so far for myself ( 2 walleye’s caught so far ),and others that I have talked to have had minimal success. I haven’t been out walleye fishing now since last Friday,March 3/23. I remember that back in the 90th’s,the Delaware Lions Club held a Walleye Derby 7AD1E5D9-C751-454D-8DD2-6D3F02B58656.jpeg for a few year’s,and the walleye derby,( yes!! walleye! lol 😂), was usually held in April, around the Easter long weekend’s.What I am trying to say is,the thames river water temperature around that time of the year was to the walleye’s preference for spawning. I am just saying that the thames river right now needs to warm up a bit more,to start the migration of walleye’s into the thames river, etc.,and hopefully 🤞there will be the odd walleye around now to be caught & released,( especially full of egg’s), by D02ACEE2-AAEC-4A4D-9DFA-AC9DC09F258D.jpeg some,( their preference),before the walleye sanctuary is in effect,on March 16,2023. For now, I am doing the odd job off the “honey do” list such as painting, and hopefully 🤞 tight lines & walleye’s on soon. See you on the water! 🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟👍🙂

Thought I'd better get one last day on the river for me before the season closes. A little colder than I like but well worth it with a limit of perfect eater sized walleye. Pink 1/4 oz jig with white twister tail seemed to be just the ticket today.Mar 14.JPG

🥳 Congratulations 🎉 @Wilker Tim 👍👍 & Thanks for the tip as well on what you were using, and now,“Please!!” the location on where you caught your limit of walleye’s!! lol 🙃 I “stumpled” upon a “Honey Hole” early this morning, 🎣🐟🐟but not on the Thames River, but Costco North instead!! lol 😝 The way my walleye season has been going,it was tempting to buy at least one package of these, but it had pickerel on their label, which totally confused me,so therefore, I will try my luck walleye fishing again instead, before the walleye season closes. It looks like that I just need to bring white twister tails according to your success, instead of all of these twister tails, that I normally bring along!! lol 😆 Tight lines to All,and a 4 limit of Walleye’s ON!! 🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟🤞👍🙂

@Red Hering these were all caught in Delaware just south of the bridge, on the east bank. I hope you can get out tomorrow and good luck!

I know that spot well @Wilker Tim and a beautiful area, which I occasionally have fished at. Thanks for revealing your spot, and I was wondering after reading your post if you actually caught your walleye’s on the Thames or the Grand River, because you didn’t mention what river, and now I know. 👊👊🙂 Tight lines to what’s left of the walleye season! Cheers!! ☕😋👍🙂
