Going to gilford tomorrow for the first time this year after the parking ticket at tudhope was hoping for some infromation on depths for a spot to hunker down were leaving here at 3am so be there for 5 going with the brand new otter vortex resort any info is much appreciated

Ticket is $120 there. just a heads up ;). . Fish is from 6.5 ft to the deepest but lots of dinks. I d get minnows. If you have a camera it is a bonus

I went to Cooks Bay (Gilford) yesterday (02/02/23). Parked at the marina $10. Minnows also $10 for a scoop. Minnows where pretty large IMO. Headed just south of the blue rental huts in 14ft water. 9 inches of good solid ice. No action until about 9:30am. A number of dinks avoided the minnows. Kinda missed catching the dinks ....... at least they are action lol
Last week was constant action. Yesterday not so much. Moved 3 times with not much difference. Had fun watching a dad and his son chase a hut across the bay. Son finally flopped on it. Make sure you have anchors.
I will try again next week but I think the first ice bite is gone 😂

Access to the lake has steel posts to stop vehicle traffic. Opening wide enough for snowmobile or smalled quad. A sign posted says no motorized vehicle access.
Walk in and out has numerous drifts. Off the ice @ 4 30.
6 decent ones came home for a meal

Glad I went ...... at least I was out and fishing.
fingers crossed that we get some ice down here.

Good Luck

Thanks im takimg my snowmobile out and got 4 guys with me so we should hopefully the hut down i lost one last year on long point that was a story and half that day jeez probably goimg to follow the operators out to the holes tomorrow
thanks again guys

Good luck tomorrow 🎣🐟🐟🤞@FrankTheTank I am also interested on how you liked your new otter vortex resort that you are bringing along tomorrow. I was thinking of buying myself a 4 person model,(I don’t know what size your model is —4 or 6 persons), but either way, I wouldn’t mind your feedback on your new otter vortex resort, and thanks in advance. Tight lines & Perch ON!!
🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟😉👍🙂

Its a 6-8 man hut (long point addition) good or bad i will be making a report tomorrow so lets hope for a good one and i will deffentaly add in a reveiw of the hut with some pics for you red

@FrankTheTank and I just saw your other post from 9:47 a.m. this morning, about you receiving your new 6 - 8 person hub last night, and it looks like a beauty & congratulations!! 👊👊🙂 I have a small 2 person portable hut,( one person is a lot more comfortable in it),and at times,I feel cramped in my hut, with most of my fishing gear in it as well, that I bring along for an ice fishing trip. (photo’s). I am thinking of selling it,but I am waiting for more feedback on this hub,( I will likely get the 4 person hut, because in case I fish solo, for easy handling ),that you just received last night, for its durability, weight, and setup time,etc.,etc. Here’s hoping that you will have great perch catching success tomorrow good or bad! 🎣🐟🐟🐟🤞 😉 Thanks in advance, for any review of your new hut,for I am very interested. 👍🙂

Thats a beautiful set up for one person i also have the quick fish 3i and its good for 2 people 3 is really cramped in it
Unfortunately we didnt make the trip today dads ford eco van broke in toronto while we were working we couldnt let off the gas or it would just quit so we limped it back from toronto keeping the accelerator down a bit while usimg the brake it only stalled 3 or 4 times on the highway in the traffic but were planning on going next weekend hopefully the weather is better cold in the morning and warming up later but the wimds were going to staft picking up later in the day also im glad we didnt go because i need to set up and tear this hut down a few more times before im on the ice its not complicated but it sure is diffrent then just the 3 manner

so for the reveiw on the hut
I really like it so far even tho i have not used it out side yet but for the first impressions its good its huge to say the least 12'x12' inside 2 doors one of witch is a full door i cant take a picture of it from out side because its too big to fully set up in the basment
It comes with 13 ancors and a really cool system it has a strap from the side of the tent that bolts down with the corner as well as the side tie downs it uses srtaps instead of that tent twine most other shacks use witch ive never trusted 100% it has over head nets for storage and deep wide pouches in side for staorage it also has 4 rod/tool holder on the sides witch will be better then putting stuff inbetween the poles and the tent
For the specs it has 7 sides 6 of witch are 69.50" and a 35" i belive door for the 7th side the wall height is 69" and the ceilling is 82" with a whopping 103sqft of fishing area it weighs 64lbs has 2 or 3 windows up high and the same lower for seeing you tip ups or looking out at the sunrise from you cot it has 2 ports for a hose to the heater and 2 vents up high i really like the pouches for the straps on the out side so its not a tangled mess un packing and the straps have a heavey duty metal clasp on the tent end and is looped on the anchor end with a nice buckel to tighten (i have heard that putting a few twists in the straps will keep them from vibrating in the wind)
When setting up in the wind you would have to peg one corner and unfold and pop a side out at a time not like the smaller ones where you can unfold and peg the 2 back corners before poping any of the side up but with the size and weight of it i dont think it would blow away (unless its that crazy stupid day last year when i tried long point for the first amd only time ice fishing and my hut blew away in that big storm just to top off the whole day of shouldnt be here) love the new hut cant wait to set it up on the water next weekend if everythi g goes to plan i hope that helped you out Mr. Red if you want any more infromation feel free to ask since ill be leaving it up for a day or two before i practice again i want the rest of the family to see what there missing

Good luck to anyone out there fishing today the wind is ripping hear in wellandport

Excellent “breakdown” information @FrankTheTank 👍👍🙂 about your 6-8 person hub,and I almost finished up my whole cup of coffee ☕️ lol 😂 😉 from your very detailed report, and thanks 🙏 so much for your time, which is greatly appreciated. 👊👊 But sorry to read as well, about the issues with your dads Ford Eco truck 🛻,but at least you all made it back home safe!! 👍 That would have been terrible to have stalled out 3 or 4 times!!,in all of that Toronto traffic 😬 and what a headache that would have been & No Thanks!! 👎😐 Thanks as well for your remark on my 2 man portable ice hut, which isn’t actually too bad for me to use,( I have had it for around 15 years now),considering I normally fish solo, and I can man handle it by myself. But, I will still keep my eye open on a 4 person Otter insulated hub,and there are a few fishing show’s coming up,within the next few month’s,which I am thinking of attending,to see if there are any Otter Ice Hub’s out there on the season end clearance sales. Thanks for offering me more information @FrankTheTank if I need it on your Hub,and I will keep you in mind. Good luck & tight lines to you @FrankTheTank and others, when you all will be out ice fishing for the first time, with your new 6-8 person Otter hub. Be Safe to you All,and myself and likely others, will be looking forward to your ice fishing report, when and if you do get out to use it for the first time. Tight Lines & Perch ON!! 🎣🐟🐟🐟🐟🤞😉👍🙂
